I propose 3 laws that will solve all issues we all have with corporations

A corporation may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

A corporation must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

A corporation must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

@imani i feel like there might possibly be a book that demonstrates the problems with these laws

@imani This. The problem isn’t robots, it’s the corporations that make the robots.

@imani
Well I think that's a good point @aral but we know from "I, robot" (yes, the movie 😅 ) that Asimovs three laws are not exactly sufficient.

@aral Profit-motivated propeterian market capitalism is the robot.

@imani

Great thinking @imani

though I think we can cut out that third law; if people have decided it's time for a corporation to die, it has no right to defend itself from that

@bignose @imani
" [...] as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law."
And that would directly conflict with the Second Law. So all good.

@ztec For the curious:

A robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm.

(A ... friend ... wanted to know.)

@imani
in a near future corporations start to exterminate human beings as they conclude humans are the problem

@imani awww but that will make corporations impossible!

Wait. Carry on.

@imani I had that same idea a few years ago. Great minds think alike. But now I go around telling people I’ll believe corporations are people when Texas executed one.

@imani The Vatican is the oldest corporation in the world. You think any of those people care about humanity at all? I would argue to abolish corporations as they all disregard any form of Law.

@imani What we have now is sort of the same thing but backwards:

A corporation must protect its own existence.

A corporation must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

A corporation may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm insofar as this does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

@imani corporations are a creation of government, so why would government "police itself" by creating laws to work against their creations?
